ACTION FIGURE MUSEUM celebrates 4th Birthday
“They say it’s our birthday! Happy Birthdy to us!” Well, that doesn’t work as well without music behind it, does it?
This Saturday, October 24, is our annual Birthday Costume Bash and Fund Raiser. A lot of words to say PARTAY! If you are anywhere near Pauls Valley Oklahoma, come on by. Tickets are $75 per couple and we are very lenient on who is considered a couple; a couple of friends, a couple of llamas, you get the drift.
It is always a blast with lots of food from local restaurants, great grog, and some antics by me and our board president Lenny Brumley who I grew up with and we are both total action figure/comic book geeks and proud of it. So even the
boring” topics will be done with humor and pizazz. And joinng us this year are the stand up comics TwinProv, twin borthers who are funnnnny!!
We will also be naming the a2009 Hall of Fame winners, too, for Toy Designer, Action Figure Line, and Sculptor. AND awarding $400 to the best costume in the place.
Call me at 405/207-7098 or the museum at 405/238-6300 to make your reservations. Space is very limited.
I will make sure we get lots of photos to show those who doen’t make it, but hope to see you there. Kevin Stark

TIME MAGAZINES TOP 50 includes Oklahoma’s Toy & Action Figure Museum

Pauls Valley, OK – July 28, 2009; Time Magazine US Edition announces their 50 Authentic American Experiences for 2009, awarding the distinction to only one attraction in each of the 50 states.
Their choice for the great state of Oklahoma is the Toy & Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley.
Museum Curator and Action Figure Collector Kevin Stark says he is thrilled to add this to the Museum’s growing list of recognitions. “We were less than a year old when the Oklahoma Department of Tourism declared us the best new attraction in 2006. In 2008, Tulsa World recognized us as one of the Top 10 Destinations in Oklahoma. A few months ago, Wired Magazine did a great write up on us and now, before we celebrate our 4th Birthday, we have attracted the attention of highly esteemed Time Magazine as The Top Authentic American Experience in the entire state – Amazing!”
From Time Magazine: “In the U.S., pop culture is the dominant culture, and so it was only a matter of time until someone created a museum devoted to action figures. That someone was Kevin Stark, an artist from Pauls Valley, Okla., who in 2000 began looking for a building that could house his massive collection of playthings. The Toy & Action Figure Museum opened in 2005, and it has displays dedicated to all kinds of colorful plastic through history, including G.I. Joe, Transformers and other properties…Visitors will also find exhibits honoring local cartoonists, including Dick Tracy creator Chester Gould. Being a nerd is kind of cool. Admission: $6.” http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1909343_1909285_1909302,00.html
